What actually happens when a staff member leaves without returning their fob?
You cancel that one credential from the software — seconds of work — and the fob in their pocket becomes inert plastic. No rekeying, no new keys cut for the remaining team, no wondering. With mobile credentials the question disappears entirely, because access lived on their phone and was revoked the day they finished.
Are phone-based credentials actually secure enough to replace fobs?
For most businesses they're a security improvement. Mobile credentials inherit the phone's own protections, can't be lent over the fence the way a fob can, and are issued and revoked remotely — which matters enormously with a workforce that scatters across the country between seasons. Many of our deployments run mobile and physical credentials side by side during a transition.
Our current card system feels ancient — do we have to start from scratch?
Usually not.
